Serato SL-1 in stock now

13 November 2008

We have added a Rane SL-1 Serato box to hire stock to cater for the growing number of DJs demanding it on their riders. For those not familiar with Serato, the system interfaces standard decks or CD players to a laptop-based MP3 playback system, allowing DJs to carry their entire record collection on their laptop, but still manipulate the recordings as if they were pressed on vinyl or CD.The box went straight out on the Southport Soul Weekender where it was installed in the 'Funkbase' throughout the weekend, reflecting its particular popularity on the urban music scene.

MIDAS HERITAGE ADDED TO STOCK

30 October 2008

We recently took delivery of a 40+8ch Midas Heritage-3000 console, which was immediately put to work on a succession of summer festivals. While others are buying digital rather than analogue consoles, we feel that the supreme sound quality, ease of use and familiarity of the H-3000 still outweigh the convenience of digital consoles in many applications, particularly festivals, a view that's been shared by many of the the guest engineers we've worked with over the summer who've been delighted to find an H-3000 at front-of-house. The console's been requested by artists for a large proportion of the forthcoming Warehouse Project dates also, so is already proving to be an excellent addition to stock.

BESTIVAL ROUNDS OFF BUSY SUMMER SEASON

30 October 2008

Bestival rounded off a busy and succesful festival season, with Audile providing sound and lighting for both the Radio One Introducing stage and the Red Bull Speakeasy. Torrential rainfall resulted in apalling conditions on site, but the team battled through rivers of water and mud and lived to tell the tale. Two weeks later, though, we're still washing mud off boxes...

Prior to this was another mud-bath, this time at Creamfields. Audile provided sound and lighting for the Chibuku/Radio One and Ape/Bugged Out arenas, with headline performances from Underworld, Ian Brown and Roots Manuva. Simultaneously, Audile supplied sound and lighting to the Manchester Pride festival, covering the main stage and three others. Roisin Murphy and Alphabeat headlined.

Highlight of the season was Camp Bestival, where Audile supplied sound and lighting for the main stage, plus three smaller areas. Headliners were Chuck Berry, Flaming Lips and Kate Nash, with Flaming Lips particularly putting on an incredible show. The intensive line-up of acts included many large and complicated set-ups, but both stage dimensions and change-over times were tight. The Audile team rose to the challenge as ever, though, with the stage running smoothly to schedule for the whole weekend.

Coming a close second in the crew popularity stakes was annual favourite Glastonbury, with Audile providing sound for the Dance East tent for the fourth time running. Live headliners were Roisin Murphy, Kosheen and UNKLE, with Hercules and Love Affair, Roni Size Reprazent and Sam Sparro being further highlights. Fatboy Slim, X-Press 2, Eddy Temple-Morris and Annie Mac headed up the DJ talent.

Other festivals included Beachbreak Live in Cornwall, where Audile provided sound and lighting for the main stage, dance tent and new band tent. At the V Festivals Audile provided sound, lighting and site electrics for the Strongbow Bowtime Bar at both Chelmsford and Stafford, and the same at the Isle of Wight festival. At Oxygen it was sound, lighting and site electrics for the Blackberry Guitar Hero tent. At Escape In The Park in Swansea it was sound for the Godskitchen, Polysexual, Raveology, L'America and VIP arenas, and at Gatecrasher Summer Soundsystem it was sound and lighting for the Cement/Hed Kandi arena.

On a slightly more civilised note, Audile provided sound, lighting and site electrics for the Sky Arts Cafe at the Hay-on-Wye literary festival, and at home in Manchester the Summer in the Park festival combined fine dining with music, seeing chefs giving cookery demonstrations in one tent while the likes of I Am Kloot and Mr Scruff entertained on the music stage.
